Jason’s Story
Meet Jason. Through an essential Summit DD program, Jason has access to crucial assistive technology devices that help him access the world. Using digital braille devices, Jason can email and text on his computer and cell phone with family, friends and support staff. He has become so skilled in the technology, that he trains other individuals who are deaf and blind by working for a federally funded program called, I Can Connect. Watch his story below!
Nathan’s Story
Meet Nathan, a recent graduate from Nordonia High School who’s embarking on his journey into adulthood. For many people, it’s an exciting but stressful transition in life. What should I do next? Where do I want to work? Who do I want to become? Some people have to start this journey on their own, but luckily Nathan has an amazing support system of family, friends, and developmental disability professionals to help guide him along whatever path he chooses. Katie’s Story
“What I find most valuable about Summit DD Early Intervention services, is having another person in Katie’s corner. Having someone that celebrates Katie and recognizes her smallest accomplishments, is invaluable. Teaching Katie that she is accepted and loved and that her life is important and valuable, despite her challenges, is my most important job as a mom. County Council Passes Resolution Placing Summit DD on Ballot in November
Members of Summit County Council passed a unanimous resolution to proceed with submitting a six-year, 4.50 mills replacement of a tax for the benefit of Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board, or Summit DD, for the purpose of providing community programs and services to adults and children with developmental disabilities.
