In Ohio, you do not need to identify a reason to vote absentee. You can skip the lines on election day and vote early. Your two options include: absentee voting by mail and early in-person voting. Both options begin October 11th. If you need assistance with voting, this is a great option.
Absentee Voting by Mail
Absentee voting has many benefits. You can vote early, it is convenient, and it reduces the chance of lines at the polls on Election Day.
- Request an absentee ballot. Download an absentee ballot application and Mail the completed form to your county board of elections, or return the completed form to your county board of elections office: Summit County Board of Elections 470 Grant Street Akron, Ohio 44311. This form must be received by the close of business on the seventh day before Election Day.
- Complete your ballot at your leisure and vote YES for Summit DD’s replacement levy ensuring continued services for more than 5,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities.
- Return your ballot one of two ways. You can mail it to Summit County Board of Elections, 470 Grant Street Akron, Ohio 44311. Make sure it has enough postage. (USPS recommends purchasing a postage label at the window.) According to the Secretary of State’s website, if mailed, absentee ballots must be postmarked by the day before the election in order to be counted. You can also return your absentee ballot in person to your county board of elections before the close of the polls at 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
- You can track your absentee ballot here.
Do not take your absentee ballot to your polling location.
